The two new gardens designed for this townhouse doubles the home’s living space by providing verdant, inviting outdoor living spaces as large as the indoor living spaces.
Stepping through the front gate there is a sense of arrival with feature planting leading to the home’s entrance. Or take a plant-framed pathway leading to an informal ‘secret garden’ beyond.
We replaced the patchy grass in the unused front garden with crushed gravel to create an informal seating area surrounded heavily with layers of planting, now a lush private sanctuary.

The internal courtyard, which is viewed from the indoor living spaces, brings layered greenery spilling from planters along with plants that will form a green wall to provide privacy from neighbouring windows.
Whether it’s to enjoy breakfast in the greenery of the courtyard, or an evening drink by the firepit in the ‘secret garden’ in the front garden, these gardens celebrate the opportunity to be immersed in layers of planting in an inner-city setting.
